Offshore oil and gas primer

The Certificate Program is a self-study program designed to teach key terms and concepts that are essential to the oil and gas industry. Topics include cable-tool and rotary drilling, rig types and components, land and offshore drilling operations, well completion, and rig safety.

Oil and Gas Production in the US • Over 3 billion barrels of crude oil produced in 2014 • ~50% increase since 2009 • ~17% of production offshore (was 30% in 2010) • Texas, North Dakota, California • Over 27 trillion cubic feet of gas produced in 2014 • ~25% increase since 2009 • ~5% of production offshore • Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana Oil and Natural Gas Research. NETL’s Oil & Gas Programs conduct foundational research to improve the production, processing, transportation, and storage of our Nation’s abundant Oil and Natural Gas resources. The Portfolio is advancing technologies to improve hydrocarbon recovery efficiency, reduce the operational risks of production, The oilfield equipment and services (or OFS) industry refers to all products and services associated with the oil and gas exploration and production process, or the upstream energy industry. It includes services such as locating energy sources, energy data management, drilling and formation evaluation, well construction, By injecting gas into this oil, the specific gravity is lowered and the well will start to flow. Typically, gas is injected between the casing and tubing, and a release valve on a gas lift mandrel is inserted into the tubing above the packer. The valve will open at a set pressure to inject lift gas into the tubing. These reservoirs of oil and gas are our sources for crude oil and gas. Hydrocarbons are brought to the surface by drilling through the cap rock and into the reservoir. Once the drill bit reaches the reservoir, a productive oil or gas well can be constructed and the hydrocarbons can be pumped to the surface.

Intergard 269 is a fast drying two component epoxy primer that can withstand prolonged periods of weathering prior to overcoating. It can be used as a blast holding primer in immersed and exposed conditions and as a tie coat on zinc silicate to prevent zinc salt formation on weathering and pinholing of subsequent high build topcoats.

Unlocking America's Offshore Energy. API has assembled a primer to show the how access to domestic sources of oil and natural gas would create new, good jobs when millions are still looking for work; bring billions of dollars to federal and state treasuries as governments are scrambling for revenue; reduce our balance of trade, and enhance America’s energy security.
